Software (ASD):
ASD simplifies the design of many types of compression, extension, torsion, spiral, washer and beam springs. It combines and expands on the best features of previous SMI software versions. SMI provides comprehensive failure analysis services for springs, wire forms, slide form parts and other metal components. We will customize the service to meet the needs of your specific case in the most complete, yet cost-effective, manner possible. Upon completion, you will be provided with a confidential report detailing the findings of the analysis; the test methods used; and recommendations to prevent future failures. All tests are performed under the metallurgical expertise of SMI technical director Luke Zubek P.E., when requested the testing can be performed in accordance with ISO 17025 at A2LA-accredited labs. It tracks vital statistics in key areas of the spring industry: number of plants, expenditures, sales by product, sales by customer and more. Nonparticipating companies may purchase only the summary, which provides data on the spring industry as a whole. (Participants receive a free fully detailed report that compares their business to others that are similar, in terms of sales; as well as the summary. These are provided both in printed form and in a computer program.)

| A safe workplace is a productive one. Hidden hazards can be dangerous and expensive. SMI's on-site safety audits help identify hazards and provide recommendations for abatements of potential safety hazards in the plant. The audit includes a preliminary interview, a review of the company's written programs, a plant floor inspection and a detailed written post-audit report. Given by SMI's regulations compliance consultant, all results are confidential. Participants have reported saving thousands of dollars in OSHA fines and insurance premiums because of Wood's audits. Customized in-house safety training is also available and can be set up on an individual basis.
