Schedule

Get the same critical information but eliminate the costs of travel, rooming and time by logging onto the SMI online seminar, Improving the Fatigue Life of Springs, conducted by metallurgist Luke Zubek, SMI Technical Director

Date: Tuesday, April 24, 2007

SMI's online seminar is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Central time) which is:

2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Eastern
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Mountain
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Pacific

Agenda
Among the topics to be discussed are:
  • Statistical nature of fatigue testing
  • Stress ratios for springs explained
  • Shot peening basics reviewed
  • How much coverage is required.
  • Adiabatic shear, is it harmful?
  • Potential damage from over-peening
  • Some recent advances in shot peening technology
  • Basics of gas nitriding
  • Benefits of hot and cold setting.
  • Detriments to fatigue life: decarburization, plating, heat, corrosion.

Participants will miss having the coffee breaks (unless you provide). Otherwise, it's as if they were actually in the classroom with the same detailed information and communication opportunities available to them.

How it Works
Don't leave the conference room, because now you and your staff can participate in an multimedia online seminar that will help you assess and avoid spring failures.
The multimedia presentation is "Webcast," with audio connections by conference call. Price is set per computer terminal, so you can have as many people as possible clustered around the screen.
P
articipants will receive the appropriate handouts, and telephone numbers and access codes to log onto the broadcast prior to the actual seminar.
Participants have the same ability to ask questions and develop a real-time give-and-take information session as if they were in the same room as the instructor, even though they may be hundreds of miles away.
Ask questions and take notes. This virtual seminar will save your company hundreds of dollars in travel expenses and time.

Instructor Luke Zubek P.E.
The online seminar will be conducted by Luke Zubek P.E
., SMI's technical director. An engineer at a major steel company 10 years, Zubek's education includes a Master's in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The enrollment fee (minus a $20 nonrefundable registration charge) may be refunded up to April 10, 2007.
SMI reserves the right to cancel the program by April 10, 2007 if an insufficient number of people register. In case of cancellation, SMI will refund all deposits.
