Washable, Wireless Computer Keyboards

Unotron Inc. has introduced the IP66 and NEMA4X certified washable wireless computer keyboards. Featuring Unotron’s SpillSeal patented technology, this product allows for complete up-and-down finger motion that mirrors natural typing; endures repeated spills, dirt and cleansing; and eliminates the need to frequently replace keyboards. The user can spray or wipe down the wireless keyboard with disinfectants, or fully submerse it in water or cleaning solutions, and still maintain the touch-and-feel of a traditional keyboard for optimal typing ease and performance. The keyboards are compatible with all PCs, including desktops, laptops, workstations and servers. Additional software is not required. For information, contact Unotron Inc. by phone at (800) 469-7440 or Web site at www.unotron.com.

Testing Systems

Instron Corp. has designed a compression-only 300KN machine for testing large springs used on locomotives. This machine can be used to load test the springs, ensuring they are satisfactory to re-install during rebuild of locomotives. It is designed for spring diameters up to 13.75 in. (350 mm) and loads that can reach 67,000 lbf. (300 kN).

The company has also updated its materials testing accessories catalog. The 450-page catalog details a range of accessories to enhance testing systems, including grips, extensometers, fixtures, environmental chambers, load cells, software and alignment systems.

In addition, Instron offers Extend Upgrade System packages for Instron and other hydraulic load frames. Developed for high-capacity tension, compression, bend and shear testing, hydraulic testing systems can be updated with the addition of Partner software, featuring data collection, result calculation, networking and online help; and real-time system status electronics. For information, contact Instron by phone at (800) 564-8378 or Web site at pr.instron.com.

Control and Safety Base Module

Fortress Interlocks has introduced an AS-interface (AS-i) control and safety base module for its eGard system, enabling eGard to be simply connected to an “AS-i Safety at Work” control network in minutes. EGard is a modular system that can control access to hazardous machinery, via gate switch and trapped key technology, and includes simple machine or access controls, such as push buttons, e-stops and lamps. The AS-i base has two addresses: one for connecting the safety circuits and one for connecting the control I/O. AS-i is a cable network system that allows machinery safety technology to operate in parallel with standard machine controls on a single network with a common communication protocol. The AS-i base module features an LED status indicator and an AS-i standard four-pin M 12 quick-connect fitting for connecting dual safety circuits and up to four inputs and outputs. For information, contact Fortress Interlocks by phone at (859) 578-2390 or e-mail at sales@fortressinterlocks.com.
