Birthplace: Detroit, MI; raised in Ann Arbor, MI.

Family: Husband, Allan; children, Sam (37), Matt (32), Bill (30), Bert (30) and Kim (27).

What I like most about being a springmaker: Making something useful.

Favorite food: Lobster, scallops and nuts.

Favorite authors: Nelson DeMille, John Irving and David Baldacci.

Favorite music: All the music from the ’60s and ’70s (rock ’n’ roll and Motown).

Hobbies: Golf, skiing, traveling.

Favorite places: Aspen, CO, and Whidbey Island, WA.

Best times of my life: Time spent with our family.

A really great evening to me is: Dinner out with Allan and watching “24” with friends.

The things I can’t stand are: Negative political ads and dishonesty.

My most outstanding qualities are: Commitment to family and friends.

People who knew me in school thought I was: Always friendly.

I knew I was an “adult” when: We had five teenagers in the house to raise at the same time.

If I weren’t working at John Evans' Sons, I would like to: Be a travel consultant.

The most difficult business decision I ever had to make was: Dropping school and a teaching career to be a future stay-at-home mother.

I wonder what would have happened if: We were not in a family business.

Role models: My mother-in-law.

I would like to be remembered in the spring industry for: Helping to maintain relationships among the families in the SMI membership.

But people will probably remember me for: The answers I’ve given to these questions and my crazy curly hair.
