The SMI/PMA Slide Forming Concepts Manual covers the basic slide forming concepts necessary to operate and set up a horizontal slide forming machine in a safe, productive manner. It can also be used in the plant or office as a valuable technical resource.

Trainees will acquire knowledge about the slide forming process that can be applied directly to actual production situations. They will also develop a well-rounded understanding of the slide forming process to prepare them for a variety of jobs and advancement. Although based on the use of a horizontal slide forming machine, other types of slide forming machines and operations related to the slide forming process are covered. The knowledge and skills taught in the manual can be applied to virtually any slide forming operation, regardless of the type of equipment used.

The manual’s 10 chapters are highly illustrated to encourage learning. It is thoroughly indexed and contains a glossary of nearly 700 words to make searching for information quick and easy. Graphs, tables, photos and line drawings accentuate important concepts and emphasize relationships between operator and machine. This 400-page manual was developed by slide formers for use by slide formers.
