



The Spring Manufacturers Institute recognized four outgoing board members with service awards at the association’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Puerto Rico. Those honored included Don Lyons, president and owner at JonSpring in Springfield, Massachusetts; Alex Melnikow, president and CFO at Midstate Spring in Syracuse, New York; Keith Porter Jr., general manager at Newcomb Spring of Carolina in Gastonia, North Carolina; and Tim Zwit, vice president of operations at Motion Dynamics Corporation in Fruitport, Michigan. All four individuals served two terms on the SMI board of directors from 2020 to 2026.
“On behalf of SMI, I want to extend my sincere thanks to Don, Alex, Keith and Tim for their exceptional service on the SMI board of directors,” said SMI President David DeVoe, president of John Evans’ Sons in Lansdale, Pennsylvania and vice president of North American operations for Lesjöfors Group U.S.
“Over the past six years, each of them has brought steady leadership, industry insight and a deep commitment to strengthening our association,” DeVoe said. “Their contributions have helped guide SMI through important initiatives and positioned us for continued success. We are grateful for their dedication and the time, energy and expertise they invested in advancing our mission.”
DeVoe also highlighted individual contributions, noting Porter’s service as chair of the communications committee, Melnikow’s position as co-chair of the Emerging Leaders group and Zwit’s role as chair of the technical committee.
SMI will soon announce the addition of new board members. The association will hold its 2027 Annual Meeting at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage, California, April 12-15, 2027.
